Portly Toad
Peter and Mark Schriemer are brothers who share a passion for exploring the natural world, caring for our wild spaces, and encouraging families to get outside and experience adventures together. They grew up around the Great Lakes and the Northwoods of Michigan and began filming wildlife as teenagers before founding their own production company as adults.
Why the name Portly Toad? Toads are the natural world's wildlife ambassadors to children. They don't bite, are easy to catch or observe, and can be found in many backyards. For many children, a toad is often their first close encounter with wildlife. Portly Toad Studios also strives to be an ambassador for the natural world and a resource for families who want to experience nature and wildlife together.
Portly Toad Studios seeks to entertain, educate, and enrich people's lives through projects that promote adventure, stewardship, and healthy living. The studio partners with organizations that share similar goals, including foundations, nature centers, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Its productions have earned more than 20 prestigious industry awards, including Telly Awards, Davey Awards, Communicator Awards, Aurora Awards, and the Dove Foundation Family-Approved Seal.
